A Nation Hijacked (letter to Post-Gazette)
If you have an agenda to stop endless war; if you want environmental regulation not written by and for drillers and frackers; if you want financial regulation legislation not written by and for Wall Street bankers; if you want health care legislation not written by and for insurance and pharmaceutical companies; and finally, if you want election laws to challenge the two-party duopoly, then consider voting for the Green Party.
Two-hundred-and-twenty Republicans in the U.S. House and 54 Republicans in the Senate pass a corporate agenda during the Bush years and it is followed it by 239 Democrats in the House and 59 Democratic senators continuing to pass a corporate agenda during the Obama years with an even stronger war component.
International corporations -- whether located in Pittsburgh, London, Paris, Toronto or Tokyo -- have hijacked any government for the people. In our country, for the most part, the two political parties are complicit in that hijacking.
